Literature Text

Trapped in walls of plaster white
Bound within my cell
Listening to the screams late at night
The drugs they do me well.
And as I walk down the halls
The others do I fear
Some in a stupor lulls
Ranting, muttering I hear.
And I do sit alone
Inside this pleasant cage
And how I wish to be at home
One day seems like an age.
To be trapped like an animal
Amongst the ravaged of insanity
If only the doctors heed my call
The confinement tests my sanity.
To feel my mothers warm embrace
To be free to roam at will
The doctors, they don’t know this place
How insane hands feel.
For they don’t know the loneliness
The fear of the psychotic
To suffer with an illness
The sane amongst the sick.
This was about my short stint in a mental institution.
